Everyone has a common misconception that merchant navy is kind of Indian navy.
To say you it is not. Here in merchant navy we don't deal with any kind of weapons or we won't involve in war. So, guys who are thinking this way then you should go for Indian Navy.

Now, Merchant Navy the name itself says "Merchant" means "Trade".
So you might think what is Trade?

Trade means exporting or importing of goods especially with foreign countries around the globe.
As this trade is done by ships it is known as "Merchant Navy". You all might get a doubt what kind of trade is done by ships what goods do ships carry?
Here comes the main part most of the worlds trading about 97% is being done by ships which carries variety of cargo like crude oil, chemicals, liquid petroleum gas, loose cargo like cement, grains etc.. and packed products through containers.

Hence the ships are classified as Oil tankers, LPG carriers, Chemical carries, Cargo carriers, Container ships.
By now you all may think what kind of job mariners do exactly do on board ship.
